So, he started his way with the purchase of PS4 in 2017. At the end of 2022, my collection of disks contains 184 projects. Here everyone will decide for himself – it is a lot or a little. The largest increase in a unit of time was, of course, at the beginning of your journey, when you in excitement try to hack more projects, acquiring, of course, not the game itself, but already something so. Now the process is a more thoughtful, more controlled, more boring or something: there is an approximate list of Wishlist and a “black list” of projects that I would definitely not want to see in the collection for subjective reasons.
And when, excuse me, there will already be the essence of the post?
But, in fact, the essence of the post.
The process of acquiring any game in the collection is not a particularly diverse. You buy some kind of project and, at best, you sit down and play it, and in the worst – this project leaves for a constantly growing baclog "on the shelf". Recently, I began to notice that I began to somehow miss some kind of scope in this whole process. I began to think that maybe it is your collecting.
Once leafing through the news feed of thematic groups and one organization banned in the Russian Federation, I came across a photograph (mostly foreign) colleagues, which are divided by pictures of their collections against the backdrop of huge TVs with a bunch of light panels, etc. And then I caught up with the idea of taking a cycle of a photo of my video game collection, but it is more interesting to do it, more immersive, if you allow you.
For the photo I chose the style "Flat Lay", which can be translated as "flat layout of objects of photos". The main essence of the style is that the camera lens is perpendicular to the photo object. If a little is not clear, then there will be a "live" example further. Yes, of course, I am not the discoverer of this genre of the photo, but for some reason it was precisely such a performance (in the aggregate of the angle of the camera and adding the surroundings as part of the game photos) I met a criminal offense.
I want to share with you the most relevant photograph dedicated to yesterday’s ten -year anniversary of DMC: Devil May Cry from craftsmen from Ninja Theory.
The object was DMC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition on the PS4 platform. This rebut, in subjective opinion, refers to one of the underestimated projects of his time. And the sound in the game is generally a head higher than in some license plates of the series.
In order not to build a post around only one photo, I want to briefly paint the process of creating this type of photo.
I will add that at the moment 11 photos have already been taken. If you like it, I can make a separate post where I briefly describe "how it was done". Unfortunately, there is almost no backstage with those photos, but I can find something.
We move on to the stages of creation.
Mission 1. Idea and concept.
Idea. The first and often the most difficult part of the whole preparation.
"Idea" – This is not only a general concept and "atmosphere", but also what, in fact, you need to create this atmosphere – lighting and props. Fortunately, there were not many problems with the DMC in terms of searching for the idea (the game was not 1 dozen times). So, as you can describe DMC from Ninja Theory in a pair of words?

If you try to recall the levels in the DMC, then you are unlikely to remember the gray city streets, but then you definitely remember the vhilate color palette, the asymmetric-sensitive location design, etc. And, if it is difficult to come up with the implementation of architecture as part of the photo, then everything is easier with the color palette. Let us write down.
Props. It is always interesting with props. Props – this is what the GG and its environment are in contact with. These are mainly some kind of collected items, artifacts, recognizable elements and peculiar masks. Within the framework of the DMC, this is what I came up with to use:
Listilles, orba, amulets, jar Virility (of course) and Dante pistols. ̶Ch̶e̶r̶n̶y̶y̶ ̶i̶ ̶b̶e̶l̶y̶y̶y̶y̶y̶y̶y and ivory.
Mission 2. Bargaining and craft.
Possible props selected. The next point of the plan is to come up with how to create it. At such moments I envy people with 3D printers. But on the other hand, sending the model to print is not as interesting as to mess with it yourself, is it so?) Buy a 3D pen for yourself: D

PVC billet is 2mm, 3 layers are glued to make a “canonical” form. Added textured recesses – we still have objects from hell.

Ornaments were cut out of the same PVC, cracks are added for the effect of antiquity.
Coating of ornaments in layers of silver and black paint to remove excess shine. But under the lamp they still shine.

But, firstly, this is longer in time, t.To. I would have to initially make a master model, pour a form from a silicone, etc.D. Perhaps someday, but not this time 🙂

It turned out that the creation of the stars I did not shoot. In fact, this is just a paper model of a standard star, which was also covered with a mixture of acrylic varnish and dye.

There were 3 attempts. Stopped, in fact, on the third.
Experiment No. 1 consisted in creating the necessary form by winding the paper tape, which as a result will be covered with an already familiar composition of acrylic varnish + dye. But in this version it was difficult to make the necessary volume and relief where it is necessary.

Experiment No. 2 It took place in modeling from the bar of the polymer clay of the necessary shape of the orb, which I will already cover with the same composition. Accepted. Started. During the evening, the desired boshka was cast, and I, without taking a photo, went to sleep. But this option was not final. I, of course, decided. But now I used half of all the material I have, but I need to make 2 more models. It was decided to make out the result of experiment No. 2 until it completely dried up and let it go into experiment No. 3.

Being awarded with the first two experiments, I went to the Internet. It turns out that people have long come up with an algorithm for modeling polymer clay (who would have thought). Everything turned out to be simple – we make the main volume from foil inside, and with clay we already put on the upper part, modeling the necessary forms already. So we facilitate the design, and we save the material. After all the manipulations of Orba were also varnished and dye somewhere behind the scenes.

Dante pistols. Dante pistols. Pistols. Ahem, in short. This props is an integral part of the character and taking a photo without this inventory does not make sense.
If I tell Dante, then what weapon immediately pops up in your head? No, not a huge two -handed sword, in a rebut, this is generally an almost plain toothpick. And no, not 2 saw-tops that are going to a motorcycle, this is not from this part at all. In, rightly, pistols.
There were also several ideas of possible development of events:
To make yourself from the existing PVC, but with its thickness of 2 mm, there would be too much layers, and the acquisition of another material, say, plywood would cause additional costs. Or order somewhere 3D printing, but this also may well bring costs that I would like to avoid.
Fortunately, I found a guy’s announcement on the Internet, probably a cosplayer who, for a completely normal price tag, sells the same pistols. Actually everything (but he caught up with intrigues).
Most of the rest of the props was already in stock. It remains only to collect the composition.
Mission 3. Composition.
In fact, I sat the most time over this section. I understand little in the photo and I am not an expert. If one of the readers can give constructive tips, then I will only be happy.
Partly, probably, due to the lack of depth in the knowledge of the photo of the craft, and this photo style was chosen, because there are only 2 possible compositions:
Symmetric. Items are built along the lines, a certain layout system can be traced. The effect of "artificiality" is created (suitable for a photo on Detroit: Become Human for example, OP, spoilers for subsequent posts).
The format does not require anything – just throw items on the table and take pictures.
Within the framework of my photo, the center of the composition is always a game that is dedicated to the picture. Therefore, the outer space must be filled evenly as possible. I personally like a photo that you can sit for a couple of minutes to look at.
Of some special equipment, I can only name a tripod-treasure with the possibility of installing a camera in a horizontal plane, a couple of smart bulbs with the ability to change intensity/ color and brightness and a couple of sheets of photophones for, in fact, backgrounds. And, of course, something that will allow you to display the picture from the camera to the TV/monitor at the moment when you need to lay out the composition. The thing, of course, is not mandatory, you can do the screen of the camera itself, but believe me that with a large screen is much easier.

We are not proud people – foil as a reflector, a bag with 1.5 kg weights as a counterweight for the camera, a Christmas tree for the soul.
Mission 4. Processing.
Choose the result you like and drive into photoshop, adjust to our taste. Remember the mission 1, and that DMC is characterized by bright colors. We use it.
